Castle Retail Group, based in Memphis, Tennessee, is owned and operated by grocery veteran Rick James. In 2004, James purchased several former Sewell-Allen store locations and transformed them into cost-plus outlets known as Cash Saver - the very first in the country. Thanks to the low-cost format, Cash Saver remains a successful way to provide a necessity to those who need it most.

In 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic, James purchased the iconic High Point Grocery from former owner C.D. Shirley. After a little interior facelift, High Point reopened in August with nearly every former employee. High Point continues to be the “little neighborhood store” that offers customers everything they need to feed their families, including rotisserie chickens and grab ‘n go products.

Less than a year later, James partnered with Tom Archer, owner and president of Archer Custom Builders, to bring a grocery store - South Point Grocery - to the downtown Memphis area. The $2.5 million transformation of the former Liberty Cash Grocers’ 100 year-old warehouse solidified Castle Retail’s place in the city’s rich history. Custom neon signage, a unique sandwich kitchen, and an outdoor patio make South Point Grocery a truly one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
